Depth of Martian Magnetization From Localized Power Spectrum Analysis

Magnetic field measurements show that Mars possesses strong crustal magnetic anomalies formed when the planet had an active dynamo. To investigate origin of this magnetization, we used localized power spectrum analyses to constrain equivalent depths thin layers in crust. Using a new martian model incorporates data from both Atmosphere and Volatile EvolutioN Global Surveyor missions, found magnetization on vary surface 72 km. In northern hemisphere are be average 9 km, whereas southern 32 If these interpreted terms thick layer, lowlands could extend about 18 km depth, for highlands layer 20 depth base The strongest are, general, associated with deep source depths. Our results consistent hypothesis where primordial materials were excavated Borealis impact basin, leaving only remanent hemisphere.
